ALDI brings “Good Different” to Adelaide’s north

ALDI has opened its newest store in the inner northern Adelaide suburb of Prospect.

With doors opened from 8:30am today (January 11), ALDI Prospect is set to provide the community with award-winning grocery products and popular Special Buys, together with fresh fruit, vegetables and bread delivered daily.

“We offer a supermarket experience that is like no other in Australia and we are proud to call ourselves ‘Good Different’,” says Viktor Jakupec, ALDI Australia Regional Managing Director.

“It’s our differences such as having never offered single-use plastic bags, utilising a coin deposit system for our trolleys and our tight product range that allow us to bring unbeatable value to our customers every day,” he says.

Key features

ALDI Prospect is said to feature a number of innovations offering an enhanced shopping experience for customers including simple navigation, expansive wooden produce bays and a modern interior store design including newly designed registers and self checkouts.

Energy management remains a key priority for ALDI, with natural refrigerant technology and LED lighting a key fixture of the store, contributing to ALDI’s commitment to cut emissions. In June 2021, ALDI achieved its commitment to power its entire operations with 100% renewable electricity, resulting in an 85% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Opening celebrations

To celebrate the opening of the new store, a number of unique Special Buys are on offer, which are not available collectively in any other store. Special Buys have become incredibly popular with Australian shoppers and are just one way ALDI distinguishes itself from other supermarkets.

ALDI Prospect will be supported by a team of 15-20 permanent full and part-time employees, providing a unique career opportunity in retail.

The new store is located at 106 Main North Road, Prospect. Opening hours will be 8:30am-8pm Monday to Friday, with extended trading hours until 9pm Thursday, 8am – 5pm on Saturdays and 9am to 5pm on Sundays.

Continued expansion

The supermarket’s continued expansion underscores its contribution to the Australian economy. As part of ALDI’s Price Report 2022, it was calculated that in 21 years of operation, ALDI has contributed a total of $34.2 billion to the economy with new and upgraded stores, local business partnerships and jobs.

The report revealed that last year, ALDI saved its customers a total of $2.7 billion. Moreover, the downward price pressure ALDI has put on grocery prices in Australia has even saved non-ALDI shoppers over $7 billion since arriving in Australia.
