Somerdale International has unveiled a limited-edition Westminster Jubilee Cheddar to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
From June, the 2kg 12-month-aged cheddar will start appearing on the cheese counters of independent supermarkets and high-end delis.
The product’s packaging features “vibrant celebratory” black, purple and silver branding. This, says Somerdale International, will give a “real sense of theatre and standout appeal to any cheese counter or fixture”.
Commenting on the launch, Somerdale International Managing Director Stephen Jones says: “In wanting to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne, we also wanted to celebrate the very best of English cheese making tradition.
“Our great tasting and stunning looking new limited-edition Westminster Jubilee Cheddar does this and we can’t wait to see the waxed truckles appearing on cheese counters across Australia. In doing so, they will complement and enhance our increasingly successful Westminster branded range that is specially selected to tantalise the taste buds and be perfect for those cheese lovers looking for the authentic English cheddar experience.”
The Westminster Jubilee Cheddar will also be showcased at the forthcoming Good Food and Wine Shows in Melbourne (3-5 June) and Sydney (24-26 June) as part of the Somerdale-supported English Garden visitor experience.
