Coles has introduced a special edition Coles Honey BBQ Hot Roast RSPCA Approved Chicken to its deli case.
According to Coles, BBQ hot roast chickens are the retailer’s third top-selling item behind bananas and strawberries. Coles’ data also shows that honey-based flavour combinations are the most popular seasoning and are more than 13% popular compared to other flavours like satay.
The Coles Honey BBQ Hot Roast RSPCA Approved Chicken is marinated in honey, garlic and liquid smoke for a “balanced and delectable flavour hit”. It also includes a breadcrumb stuffing, flavoured with paprika, garlic, honey and herbs.
The chicken comes in a recyclable carry bag, which can be returned to store following use.
Coles Product Developer for Seafood & Deli Tim Hickox says the retailer is excited to offer customers a fresh new take on a product they love.
“We are always looking for ways to innovate across our existing product range and provide our customers with interesting new meal ideas,” he says.

The Coles Honey BBQ Hot Roast RSPCA Approved Chicken is now available in select Coles stores nationally (excluding Northern Territory) for $12.
