Haleon, the makers of Panadol, has partnered with Pharmacycle – Australia’s “only” end-to-end recycling program for blister-pack waste – on an “easy and convenient” household blister pack recycling program.

In Australia, the majority of blister packs are not recyclable through standard household recycling systems because they are made from a combination of materials like plastic and aluminium. As a result, many blister packs end up in landfill or are incorrectly placed into kerbside recycling, contaminating other recycling streams, according to Pharmacycle.  

To help address this, Haleon and Pharmacycle have launched a household recycling satchel in Australia. People can order the satchel, fill it with empty blister packs from any brand and return it via Australia Post, using the pre-paid postage label provided.

Through a specialised recycling process, Pharmacycle can then properly process the blister packs, giving the materials a second life and helping to reduce long-term waste.

Haleon Marketing Director Nagraj Iyer says the partnership reflects a shared goal to make sustainability more accessible and achievable, especially for those in rural and remote communities.

To celebrate the launch of this satchel program, Haleon and Pharmacycle will be giving away free satchels to the first 3000 people who register their interest. Australians can sign up to receive their satchel at panadol.com/en-au/blister-recycling-program.

While the initial partnership covers 3,000 free satchels, Haleon intends to continue and expand this program into the future.
