Healthy vegetable chips launch in Australia

Socially responsible and eco-friendly snack brand Kiwa has launched a range of healthy vegetable chips into Australia.

Kiwa was established in 2009 to produce and export nutritional premium snacks using raw materials harvested in small plantations by low-income agricultural producers from the Andean highlands of Ecuador.

With the support of Drakes Supermarkets, Kiwa launched into Australia in April and is now available in all 55 Drakes stores. The range is now being rolled out across the country to independent supermarkets, gourmet grocers and health food stores.

“Our approach of shared value, combined with the direct trade initiative we established, has enabled us to increase the income of the small farming communities by over 50 per cent,” founder Martin Acosta said. “The savings we gain through direct trade allows us to reinvest back into these communities for education and training.

“After Kiwa’s success in other key markets such as the US, it was a natural progression for us to explore the opportunity of entering the Australian market. We are very excited about this new venture and are committed to offering Australian consumers a high-quality unique range that not only tastes great, but also makes a difference.”

The Kiwa range includes Vegetable Crisps Mix, Native Andean Potato Crisps Mix and Parsnip Crisps and is all-natural, gluten and nut free, vegan friendly and contains no preservatives, artificial colours or flavours.

RRP: $4.29.
