ALDI Australia has launched four store trials across the eastern seaboard, exploring how various upgrades may further improve the experience of shopping at the discount supermarket.
Multi-tiered fruit and vegetable displays, drop and spot lighting and pastel-toned signage are among the concepts that create a premium feel in ALDI’s trial stores at Kallangur (Queensland), Chisholm (ACT), McGraths Hill (NSW) and Highton (Victoria).
A spokesperson for ALDI Australia says the trial upgrades will give shoppers access to an expanded product range, particularly in fresh produce and chiller lines.
“New layouts will improve store navigation and access to fresh produce bay areas, while also focusing on how products are displayed and checkout wait times,” the spokesperson said.
Energy management and sustainability will also continue to be a priority. The introduction of new in-store features such as LED lights as part of these upgrades is designed to help reduce energy consumption and emissions.
“ALDI’s sustainability principles apply to store design, construction and operation, as well as transportation and warehousing,” the spokesperson said, adding that the changes will not result in higher prices.
