Woolworths Group to launch HealthyLife to meet growing demand

Woolworths Group is launching a new online business, HealthyLife, to accelerate providing customers with health and wellness advice, experiences, services and products.

The digital startup will provide a range of health services and advice, fitness and nutrition tracking, vitamins, sports nutrition, along with a specialised range of nutrition-based natural and organic products not currently offered by Woolworths.

Woolworths Group CEO Brad Banducci said: “As a food and everyday needs retailer, we have an important role to play in supporting the health and wellbeing of our customers and have made significant progress in making health easier and more accessible for them.

“Over the last year alone we’ve seen an 80% increase in digital traffic on health related searches across a range of categories on Woolworths Group digital platforms.

“To address this growing customer demand, we’re working hard to improve our product range in our store. Additionally, we’re establishing HealthyLife online to ensure we provide our customers with a convenient destination to meet their health and wellness needs.”

A select range of products from HealthyLife will also be offered via the soon to be launched marketplace at woolworths.com.au.

HealthyLife is led by Ananth Sarathy as Managing Director, who has held a number of key digital leadership roles within Woolworths Group for more than eight years. Mr Sarathy was previously General Manager of Digital Experience at WooliesX where he led Woolworths digital teams to deliver web and mobile eCommerce platforms and experiences integrated with stores.

The HealthyLife brand was associated with an existing Australian health retail business, which closed its stores in 2019. Woolworths acquired the brand two years ago to help revive the business with a digital health offering.

HealthyLife is in its early stages of development and more details of the full customer offering will be unveiled in the coming months as it prepares to launch.
