CONFECTIONERY EXPAND Raspberry lollies marry milk chocolate Allen’s says its Mini Chocolate Raspberries provide the brand’s lolly lovers with that “indulgent” moment they’re seeking. “In mini bite-size form, these raspberry and banana sweets are a great treat for lolly and chocolate lovers everywhere,” Nestlé Head of Marketing Confectionery Joyce Tan said. “They’re the perfect treat for all occasions, from picnics to parties, promising to have everyone reaching into the bag for more.” The confectionery (RRP $4.50 for a 140g bag) is promoted as containing no artificial colours or flavours and being gluten free. Freddo packs reflect plight of frogs Cadbury’s Freddo is promoted as being made of pure Cadbury milk chocolate and individually wrapped to make for the perfect sweet snack to stock up on or share with friends and family. For a limited time, the Freddo Frog on pack has been replaced by images of some of Australia and New Zealand’s most endangered frog species, including the “much-loved” southern corroboree. Cadbury says these frogs are facing significant challenges to their survival, a problem exacerbated by recent bushfires. RRP for a medium 12-piece bag (144g) is $5. Violet Crumble Dark now in bag form Confectioner Robern Menz has added another format to its ever-growing portfolio of the Aussie classic choc-covered honeycomb bar: the ‘dark’ bag. The 180g bag of dark choc covered bites of shattering honeycomb – currently available in Coles supermarkets across Australia – was created in direct response to growing consumer trends for differing formats, portion control and finding fun ways to share favourite snacks. “When we first started producing Violet Crumble here at our factory in Adelaide, a priority was to meet the overwhelming demand to bring back the bag, which had been off shelves for 10 years,” Robern Menz CEO Phil Sims said. “Since then, we’ve delivered a number of new formats, including 135g Violet Crumble Nuggets and the 30g Violet Crumble Bunny. The next logical step was to provide a dark choc bar and bag. We’re very fortunate to make all our products here in Australia, and as an independent, family owned company, to have the agility and flexibility to create new ways for people to enjoy them.” The 180g Violet Crumble Dark Bag (RRP $4.40) is available now in all Coles supermarkets. The 50g dark bar is available nationally in Coles as well as Coles Express and IGA. Hi-Chew soft candy Hi-Chew is being promoted as a completely new kind of chew. The manufacturer says Hi-Chew’s unique, soft, double layer releases true-to-life flavours with every chew. New from Japan, its “mouth watering” flavours such as grape, will “taste like nothing you’ve ever had before”. This is said to be why it is “the number one soft candy in Japan”. The product is available in a range of “fun flavours” including Mango, Strawberry, Green Apple, Grape, Melon, Banana, Lemon, Grapefruit and Watermelon. Random mix of sour, fruity jellies Allen’s Sourz Tangy Randoms are a random mix of lightly sour, fruit flavoured jellies that are marketed as extending the offering to the whole family. With so many possible combos of fun shapes, textures and flavours, Allen’s says consumers never quite know what they’ll pick out next. The jellies (RRP $2.95 for a 170g bag) are made in Australia. 56 RETAIL WORLD AUG, 2020 your range
