MEAT & POULTRY EXPAND The Godfather’s sausage role Beak & Sons’ The Godfather sausages are described as a “royally good choice” for any barbecue occasion. The product, according to the brand, is created by combining 100 per cent Australian beef and pork, spiced pepperoni, melting cheeses and Italian herbs. They are claimed to be 100 per cent gluten free with no artificial flavours, colours or MSG. The Godfather (RRP $7.50) is available at Woolworths and IGA nationally. Plant-source beef belief Earlier this year, US-founded plant-based meat brand Beyond Meat launched Beyond Beef in Australia. The brand says vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters will find that the plant- based ‘beef’ mince tastes just like real meat, offering consumers the freedom to transform the mince into a “meaty”, plant-based treat. Beyond Beef (RRP $18 per 500g pack) consists of plant-based pea protein, with no cholesterol, GMOs, soy or gluten. It is claimed to pack more protein and iron than beef but with less saturated and total fat. No need to cook a duck Luv-a-Duck’s Cooked A L’Orange Duck Legs are claimed to be gluten free, with no artificial colours or flavours, and made from 95 per cent Australian ingredients. According to the brand, the product has been cooked “long and slow” with a sweet orange sauce, so all a consumer has to do is “simply heat and impress”. The “restaurant quality dinner” is said to be oven ready in 15 minutes. Steak claim: roo in two K-Roo’s new Kangaroo Sizzle Steak is described as convenient, quick and versatile, and is said to be “tracking well” since its launch in June. According to the brand, the 4.5 Health Star-rated Sizzle Steak is 98 per cent fat free and a “good” source of protein and iron. It is also claimed to take two minutes to cook.
