                 NEWS NEW SAFETY AND WELLBEING HEAD FOR FRUCOR SUNTORY Frucor Suntory has appointed Joanne Van Den Berg as Head of Safety and Wellbeing. Based in Auckland, she will be a key player in Frucor Suntory’s people leadership team. Ms Van Den Berg has an extensive background in safety and wellbeing, with safety roles at Air New Zealand and the country’s Department of Corrections, where she led its safety business partnering function. In the recent Covid-19 outbreak, Ms Van Den Berg led the safety and wellbeing response at the Department of Corrections. During her time at Air NZ, she led the airline’s two-year ‘health and safety worker participation and engagement strategy’ project, which focused on empowering the airline’s health and safety reps helping drive an engaged safety culture. As Frucor Suntory’s new Head of Safety and Wellbeing, Ms Van Den Berg’s mission is to fuel people’s passion for health, safety and wellbeing, enabling better work through a healthier, safer work environment. “I want safety to be part of our DNA – a core value we embrace, where safety is inherent in all our systems and processes, people instinctively operate safely and challenge others to do the same. A workplace where our people can truly thrive,” she said. “Ultimately, safety is about people. It’s about embracing the things that go right and collaborating to find solutions.”    MARS WRIGLEY NAMES NEW FINANCE BOSS Mars Wrigley Australia has appointed Duncan Webster as Chief Financial Officer. With more than two decades of experience in corporate finance and strategic planning, Mr Webster will lead the financial management of the treats and snacks business from its headquarters in Melbourne. Mr Webster has held various senior roles at the company since 2003, including in the chocolate and pet care segments at both the global and market level. Most recently, he spent three years in Chicago as the global chocolate business unit finance director of Mars Wrigley where he played a lead role in the development of value creation plans for some of its leading brands, including M&M’s, Snickers and Maltesers. Before this, Mr Webster was the CFO for Mars Chocolate Australia, delivering “strong performance and record successive growth”. During his tenure at Mars, Mr Webster is said to have been instrumental in delivering continued strong performance of the Mars Wrigley business in Australia and globally. Mars Wrigley says Mr Webster, with a passion for fostering talent and evolving the role of the finance function within the business, has played a leading role in establishing the Mars University Finance College in Australia and New Zealand, an internal continuous professional development program available to Mars finance associates. Mars Wrigley Australia General Manager Andrew Leakey says the business welcomes Mr Webster back to Australia, where he will harness his extensive knowledge of the company and experience working across Mars segments around the world. “Duncan’s appointment will bolster our leadership team and help drive strong performance and growth for our Australian business and brands,” Mr Leakey said. Mr Webster says it has been a privilege to have worked closely with the chief growth officer and chief customer officer of the global chocolate business unit for the past three years. “However, I’m thrilled to return to Australia to lead the financial growth of our operations in which Mars has a long-standing legacy in the local community, alongside a dedicated group of associates,” he said.  14 RETAIL WORLD OCT, 2020
