CHEESE EXPAND Slice of lactose free benefits As consumers continue to seek products to meet their dietary requirements, Liddells Lactose Free has expanded its lactose-free dairy cheese range with Liddells Tasty Slices 250g. The slices are lactose free and ‘FODMAP friendly’ certified, which means anyone following a low FODMAP diet can enjoy the range, Saputo Dairy Australia General Manager of Marketing Mike Murray says. “This product allows lactose intolerant consumers to enjoy the delicious flavour and nutritional benefits of real dairy cheese, avoiding tummy troubles caused by the lactose in regular milk,” he said. Liddells Tasty Slices 250g (RRP $6.50) don’t contain the carbohydrate naturally found in milk. The accent is on English Somerdale International recently launched the Westminster range of “quintessentially” English cheeses. The specially selected range includes a “classic, award-winning” Westminster Mature Cheddar, a “buttery” Westminster Mild Cheddar, a “naturally smoked” Westminster Smoked Cheddar, and a “distinctly sweet” Westminster Rustic Red. “Westminster Mature Cheddar is aged to perfection to deliver a distinct bite and smooth finish, while the Westminster Mild Cheddar has a creamy and smooth finish that’s perfect for cheese lovers who enjoy an authentic English cheddar that’s full of flavour without the ‘bite’ of more mature cheeses,” Somerdale International Australia Sales and Marketing Director Di Jones said. “The Westminster Smoked Cheddar is naturally smoked over rustic oak chips and aged for over 12 months to ensure this delicious cheddar retains its creamy mouth-watering taste while offering a hint of smoke without being too overpowering.” New cheese on the block Ashgrove Cheese says it has created “something new” that’s perfect for families: the family 500g block in Mild & Milky or Smooth & Tasty. These cheeses are ideal for cooking, baking, sandwiches, toasties, crackers or grated over pasta, Ashgrove Cheese Marketing and Communications Manager Anne Bennett says. The family 500g block (RRP $9.95) is promoted as being produced from the milk of cows that “freely graze on exceptional natural rye grasses unique to 41 degrees latitude”. The milk is collected daily from the Ashgrove family farm within a 100km radius of the on-farm factory, with the cheese’s production and distribution overseen by a “wholly Australian family owned company from paddock to plate”. Cheddar made since 1833 The Barber family has been making cheddar in the English county of Somerset since 1833, which makes Barber’s 1833 Vintage Reserve a product of the world’s oldest surviving cheddar- makers, says Somerdale International. Aged for at least 24 months, Barber’s 1833 Vintage Reserve has a “creamy texture and smooth finish,” and contains naturally occurring crystals that give it a distinctive crunch, says Somerdale International Australia Sales and Marketing Director Di Jones. “Refined sweet notes balance out its tangy sharpness,” she said. 52 RETAIL WORLD OCT, 2020 your range
