MLA teams up with Paralympics Australia

Meat & Livestock Australia’s (MLA) Australian Beef brand is set to play a key role in helping to educate school students about Paralympic sport, its core values and active lifestyles and healthy diets.

As an official partner of Australia’s 2020 Paralympic Team, Australian Beef is supporting the Paralympics Australia’s Paralympic Education Project (PEP) in the lead up to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

About PEP

The PEP is a free online education initiative. It’s aimed at promoting inclusion of people with a disability and challenging perceptions via a range of lesson plans, online resources, and a school visitation program featuring Paralympians.

MLA Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Lisa Sharp says the PEP is the “perfect fit” with Australian Beef to inspire and educate kids to be their greatest through healthy meals and an active lifestyle.

“Australian Beef is proudly supporting the Paralympics Education Program to continue to connect, educate, inspire and excite more Australian schools and communities by bringing the Paralympic Games and Para-sports into classrooms with healthy meal and active lifestyle messages,” says Ms Sharp.

“MLA currently has a range of Australian curriculum-aligned materials and programs to support teachers in educating students about sustainable farming practices, red meat production and red meat nutrition.”

Other resources

In the lead up to the Paralympic Games, MLA through Australian Beef, will also be launching a new module of school education resources focusing on Australian beef as part of a healthy meal and active lifestyle.

“These resources will feature our Paralympians, participating in engaging programs for primary aged students including live cooking classes and interviews focusing on the importance of beef’s role in a healthy lifestyle,” says Ms Sharp.

The end goal

The goal of the PEP is to reach a minimum of 300 schools and 10,000 students via online resources, and over 500 students through the school visitation program before the Tokyo 2020 Games begin in August.
