ALDI Australia is now open to receiving expressions of interest for store assistant positions, with its expansion into South Australia fast taking shape.
The announcement comes as ALDI finalises its first round of recruitment, with 30 store manager and assistant store manager positions being filled over the next month. The new staff will be chosen from more than 1,300 applications received since ALDI launched its recruitment drive in June.
“We’re delighted to see such strong enthusiasm from the South Australian public to join the ALDI business,” ALDI Managing Director South Australia Viktor Jakupec said.
“As one of the country’s fastest growing retailers, ALDI is looking for enthusiastic and ambitious people to join our team.”
ALDI primarily offers full-time and part-time permanent retail roles, distinguishing itself from other retailers where casual roles are prevalent. As part of its commitment to staff, ALDI offers paid maternity leave (18 weeks at half pay), five weeks’ annual leave for full-time employees and salaries that are well above industry standards.
New employees will undergo extensive training to learn the ALDI way of doing business. Store managers in South Australia will also receive two months of in-store training at one of ALDI’s existing stores on the eastern seaboard.
ALDI’s physical presence in the state is also progressing, with construction of its distribution centre at Regency Park in Adelaide well underway and expected to be completed in November.
The centre will service the 20 ALDI stores expected to open in the state next year, and up to 50 stores in the coming years. In addition to the warehouse, construction has begun on stores in the Adelaide suburbs of Parafield Gardens and Seaford Heights.
ALDI has added Seaton in Adelaide’s west to its growing list of identified locations, with other areas of interest including Hawthorn, Hallett Cove, Woodcroft, Blakeview, St Agnes, Kilburn, Gilles Plains, Modbury and Salisbury (all Adelaide) and the Barossa, Mount Barker, Aldinga, Noarlunga, Berri and Victor Harbor.
This week Canstar Blue announced that ALDI had received the Most Satisfied Customers Award in the Supermarket category for the fourth time in the past five years.
