‘Healthy’ dips in compostable packaging

Nuffin has launched a range of preservative-free dips packaged in fully compostable paper tubs.

Launched by Castlemaine Kitchen, Nuffin is promoted as a new “disruptive” dip brand.

“Approximately 2000 tonnes of plastic from Australian supermarket dip fridges goes into landfill and into our waterways each year,” says Castlemaine Kitchen Founder Haydn Scott.

“We have set ourselves a target to reduce this by 25 tonnes a year, via our new brand Nuffin, so #25by25.”

Mr Scott got together with now business partner David Burns in 2021 to identify the gaps and subsequent opportunities within the dips segment.

“A sustainable packaging format along with a high-quality healthier dip option with no added preservative added was a clear gap,” says Mr Scott.

“We have been working on this concept for 12 months now with many months of testing to ensure packaging durability.”

In conjunction with Woolworths, the Nuffin team says it’s very confident that it can convert many Australians from purchasing dips in plastic containers to its healthy, sustainable Nuffin brand.

“We’re thrilled to have Woolworths on board as a stockist of Nuffin,” says Mr Scott, “providing a healthier more sustainable option to their customers and celebrating a new innovative way to dip.”

In the variants of Hommus, Tzatziki, Chive & Onion and Fetta and Cracked Pepper, Nuffin will be available in Woolworths supermarkets and Woolworths Metro stores next month.
