Outback Stores, a company committed to assisting remote community stores in maintaining food security and improving affordability of staple and healthy products, is proud to be part of the recently announced product subsidy scheme.
The initiative, which provides remote stores with low-cost access to 30 food products and essential products, is set to ease cost-of-living pressures and improve food security for people living in remote communities.
“We thank all industry stakeholders who have voluntarily collaborated through Remote Food Security Working Group to develop a comprehensive list of 30 products which will allow community members to purchase these products at the same price as supermarkets in urban areas,” a spokesperson said.
“Outback Stores is particularly excited for the benefits this subsidy will bring for First Nations people and is well positioned to assist in implementing this scheme to drive better food security and affordability outcomes.”
As this scheme evolves in the coming months, Outback Stores encourages continued collaboration between all stakeholders through the Remote Food Security Working Group to improve affordability for remote communities.

The wholly owned Commonwealth company has been operating for 19 years. During this time, it’s been able to halt the closure of 19 stores, manage 13 out of administration, 4 through liquidation, reopen 2 and further assisted an additional 17 stores through significant financial hardships.
Outback Stores continues to assist stores where food security is at risk, currently supporting 58 stores across the country, with this number steadily increasing each year as more communities reach out for support.
