In the spirit of election (or democracy sausage season), MasterFoods Tomato Sauce is undergoing a limited edition rebrand to MasterFoods Democracy Sauce.
MasterFoods Democracy Sauce will be available to squeeze at select polling stations across the country on election day, 3 May.
“We’re so excited to bring these two Aussie icons together,” said Annabel Archer from MasterFoods Australia.
“The democracy sausage is a national tradition, and MasterFoods is the perfect sauce to match. As Australia’s favourite tomato sauce, it only felt right to rename our most-loved product in honour of the star of the upcoming election, the Democracy Sauce.”
MasterFoods tomato sauce has been voted Australia’s favourite sauce for 7 years running. In 2024 alone, Aussies devoured a whopping 4.9 million litres (almost 10 million bottles) of MasterFoods Tomato Sauce. To put that into perspective, that’s enough sauce bottles to circle the MCG 16,000 times, or enough sauce to fill about 250,000 bathtubs.
Putting fundraisers on the map
According to stats from democracysausage.org, 524 polling booths will offer sausage sizzles at the upcoming election, giving 869,283 voters access to a democracy sausage.
Principal Sausage Technologist, Keith Moss, confirms preparations for the day are well underway at Democracy Sausage HQ.
“We’ve been working with our event partners at the Australian Electoral Commission to load up the 2025 polling places, and are happy to say they’re ready to serve up,” he said.
“In 2022 we snagged information about over 2000 election day fundraisers, and we’re looking forward to putting even more on the map in 2025.”
Schools and community organisations that are planning a sizzle or cake stall can visit democracysausage.org to add their fundraiser to the map, making it easy for hungry voters to find them on election day.
