Global supply chain logistics company Brambles has announced its sustainability goals for 2020.
The sustainability goals focus on the most material aspects of Brambles’ operation and are closely aligned with the UN’s sustainable development goals.
“Brambles has made significant progress in delivering improvement through our sustainability objectives over the past five years,” Brambles CEO Tom Gorman said. “Our 2020 sustainability goals set a new challenge for us – one that we are excited about and committed to undertaking.”
Brambles’ commitment includes zero deforestation, a 20 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions per pooled unit, and 30 per cent representation for women on the company board and in senior management.
Brambles uses a circular business model, known as pooling, which is claimed to benefit customers by enabling them to transport their goods through the supply chain while eliminating the financial and environmental risks of buying and disposing of one-way transportation platforms such as pallets and boxes.
