The wines of Argentina came to Sydney this week for the inaugural ‘Cambalache: One Day in Argentina’ trade-only wine-tasting event at Pier One.
Presented by Wines of Argentina and the country’s Consulate General in Sydney, the event showcased more than 400 wines with some products already available in the Australian market and others for which distribution agreements are being sought.
Against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour, wine media and trade sampled what are described as some of the best varietals the South American country has to offer – from sparkling whites, bright Sauvignon Blancs and aromatic Torrontés to rich Bonardas and world-renowned Malbecs.
Those present also enjoyed traditional Argentinean food while taking the opportunity to chat with the winemakers behind the distinctive wines.
