BIG W has launched a national fundraiser for children’s hospitals and research institutes.
The national fundraising campaign will run across the retailer’s 178 stores during its Big Whopping Toy Sale until 12 July, with 100% of donations contributing to vital lifesaving and life changing programs at children’s hospitals and research institutes around the country.
BIG W is asking Australians to purchase a $2 Heart Token lovingly designed by children who have been supported by the retailer’s hospital and research partners. For every $2 token purchased, BIG W will be matching donations up to $100,000.
Customers can visit any BIG W store to purchase one of 17 Heart Token donation cards for $2 at the checkout. They are encouraged to write their name on their token and add it to the Big Heart Wall in store, as a show of love and support for children undergoing treatment in hospitals and their families.
Proceeds from the tokens in each state will contribute to the vital work of the following organisations:
- NSW: Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation
- Victoria and Tasmania: Murdoch Children’s Research Institute
- Queensland: Children’s Cancer Institute
- Western Australia: Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation
- South Australia and the Northern Territory: Womens & Childrens Hospital Foundation
“BIG W has been proud to be a long-term partner with a network of children’s hospitals and research institutes across the nation, supporting important programs that bring joy and assistance to children and families,” BIG W Managing Director Dan Hake.
“We want our customers to know that even a simple $2 donation can help to make a big difference for families, and BIG W will be matching donations up to $100,000. A donation doesn’t just help raise money, it also spreads love by providing happiness, support and hope for families in hospitals.”
