Cheesy offering from National Pies

Tigers premiership player Jack Riewoldt has cooked up a partnership with iconic Tasmanian brand National Pies, helping to create a cheeseburger-flavoured meat pie inspired by his childhood.

“When I was a kid, cheeseburgers and meat pies were my two favourite family dinners, so the chance to combine them into one epic pie is a dream come true,” he says.

“I can’t recommend this combination enough. It combines all of the best bits of both and is delicious.”

The Cheeseburger National Pie includes 100% grass-fed Aussie beef mince, topped with cheese, a dash of tomato sauce, mustard and diced pickles. It’s all wrapped up in 128 layers of crispy, puff pastry made from freshly milled Tasmanian flour.

Mr Riewoldt says creating a pie flavour with the iconic brand from his home state of Tassie, has been a career highlight off-field.

“When National Pies offered me the opportunity to help create a new pie flavour, I was instantly on board,” he said.

National Pies CEO Geraldine Tebbutt says Mr Riewoldt’s collaboration on the new flavour was only fitting.

“Like us, Jack is a proud Tasmanian who is now playing on a national stage,” she says.

“His core values align perfectly with our values as a business, and we’re thrilled to be launching his Cheeseburger National Pie, which is absolutely delicious.”

The Cheeseburger National Pie launched exclusively in Bunnings Cafes nationally, where National Pies have been available since 2020.

National Pies have been baked fresh daily in Hobart since 1942 and remain a family run business. In recent years, the business has expanded nationally, with ‘mainlanders’ across the country now able to enjoy National pies in Woolworths stores across Victoria and Queensland, and nationally at Costco and Bunnings Cafe (with the exception of SA).
