Cleanery launches in Australia

A new non-toxic, highly effective cleaning product Cleanery has landed in Australia from its native New Zealand, with Woolworths and a leading Australian pharmacy on board as the first major stockists.

In 2020, Auckland-based co-founders of Cleanery, Mark Sorensen and Ellie Brade, developed the Cleanery range and piloted in New Zealand, with “outstanding” customer feedback. Fast forward to 2022, and Cleanery’s ambition to take a leadership position in sustainable cleaning has inspired the brand to head to Australia, with the Cleanery range already in demand.

With genuine focus on delivering an eco-friendly solution for everyday cleaning, Cleanery’s product range is vegan, cruelty-free, biodegradable, and septic tank safe, free from solvents, silicones, parabens, phthalates, dyes, phosphate, chlorine, ammonia, and GMOs, according to the company. The product range includes multipurpose, kitchen, and bathroom cleaners as well as reusable bottles, and is competitively priced.

“Not only addressing the global problem of packaging waste, Cleanery products also deliver on cleaning power. Tested for efficacy in real-world situations, Cleanery outperformed market-leading dissolvable tablets, eco-cleaners, and traditional cleaners. The head-to-head test resulted in Cleanery topping the table with the brand’s multipurpose cleaner, easily cutting through tough baked-on carbon and oils that represent hard to clean soils consumers might encounter at home,” the company said.

“We all know customers care about the world we live in, want to reduce their environmental footprint, and worry about excessive packaging and waste,” says Mr Sorensen. “But they’re also tired of products that don’t work and are overpriced. It seems obvious, but cleaning products need to clean. And this is where Cleanery shines, the cleaning performance is awesome, and the price is right. Consumers can switch to sustainable products without compromise.”

Along with product performance, consumers are taking more ethical approaches to purchases. More than half of Australians are more mindful of their impact on the environment since the start of the pandemic,[1] and 88% of the population reducing their environmental impact in some way.[2]

“While traditional manufacturers have developed a business model that is based on shipping water around the world in single use bottles, we deliver the end product – the cleaning solution – to the consumer in a more economical sachet, which is cost-effective as well as environmentally sustainable,” says Ms Brade. “This is a passion project for us – we care deeply about helping customers make positive changes and having impact at scale.”

To tackle pollution, Cleanery extended its eco-conscience to its manufacturing process. Ingredients for Cleanery products are ethically and responsibly sourced, and the sachets are also fully recyclable. “In addition, Cleanery’s low waste, low emissions factory consumes around the same amount of energy as a family home, and the brand uses only sustainable postage and packaging options.”

Cleanery kitchen, bathroom and multipurpose cleaners are available at selected Woolworths stores with a larger range available online.
