More than 1,300 IGA store owners across the country support their communities and charities through the IGA Community Chest program, which raises funds through in-store purchases.

The funds raised through the apple sales will be in addition to the $195,000 IGA presented to the foundation this month. IGA has raised $720,000 for the charity since 2009.

“This significant donation is the outcome of a number of significant fundraising efforts across the IGA’s network of independent retailers and their teams in stores across Australia,” IGA National Council Chairman Ben Ryan said. “Every week our independent retailers and their store teams go above and beyond to raise money for causes they are passionate about.”

McGrath Foundation CEO Petra Buchanan says the organisation is proud of and grateful for its partnership with the IGA Community Chest program.

“This partnership allows our two IGA McGrath Breast Care Nurses to continue providing essential, free support to families experiencing breast cancer, from time of diagnosis throughout treatment,” she said.
