A new SPAR store has opened in the Newcastle suburb of Broadmeadow in NSW, blending everyday essentials with a unique Korean twist. The store offers a variety of Korean groceries, K-cosmetics, and freshly prepared Korean food-to-go, while maintaining the key features of a typical SPAR, including a wide range of grocery products and the competitive SPAR Payless program.
Located at Shop 5, 7A Griffiths Road, the SPAR Broadmeadow aims to serve the local community while introducing customers to the flavours and beauty trends of Korea.
“We wanted to bring something fresh to the Newcastle community while maintaining the convenience and value that SPAR is known for,” store owner Jayden Park said at the grand opening.
A welcome from SPAR Australia
SPAR Australia Managing Director Lou Jardin was excited about the new store’s launch and welcomed Jayden and Claire Park into the SPAR family.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jayden and Claire Park to the SPAR family with the opening of their Broadmeadow store,” says Mr Jardin. “Their unique vision of incorporating Korean products alongside SPAR’s everyday offerings is a perfect example of the innovation and diversity we encourage within our network. We look forward to seeing their success in bringing a fresh and exciting shopping experience to the local community.”
Comprehensive range with SPAR Payless Program
In addition to its Korean specialty items, the store offers a full range of grocery products, featuring over 2000 items in the SPAR Payless Everyday program. This initiative provides customers with competitive prices on essentials like fresh produce, pantry staples, and household goods.
“Our goal is to provide the best value for our customers while offering something unique,” Mr Park said. “With the Payless program, we’re able to deliver great prices without compromising on quality.”
Korean groceries, fresh food-to-go, and K-Beauty
Shoppers can explore a variety of Korean grocery items, from noodles and snacks to traditional sauces and fresh ingredients. The store’s grab-and-go section also offers freshly prepared Korean meals like bibimbap, Gimbap, and one of the highlights—Korean fried chicken.
“Our Korean food-to-go section has been really well received, especially the K-chicken,” Mr Park said. “Korean fried chicken is known for its crispy texture and flavourful sauces, and we’re excited to offer that to our customers. Whether they’re grabbing lunch or dinner on the run, we’ve made sure the flavours are authentic, and the quality is high. It’s been a hit with locals who are either familiar with Korean cuisine or just curious to try something new.”
K-Beauty: Expanding skin care horizons
In addition to groceries, the store features a dedicated section for Korean skin care products, giving customers access to the popular K-beauty trends.
“Korean beauty is about taking care of your skin in a thoughtful, natural way, and that’s something we’re passionate about sharing with the Broadmeadow community,” says Claire Park. “We’ve brought in a curated selection of products to help locals explore these trends. Whether you’re a skin care novice or a seasoned K-beauty fan, we’ve got something for everyone.”
A new shopping experience in Broadmeadow
With its unique blend of Korean culture and SPAR’s commitment to affordability and convenience, the new store offers something for everyone. Broadmeadow residents now have access to a diverse range of products, from everyday essentials to specialty Korean items, all under one roof.
“This store is a reflection of our passion for offering both local and global products,” Mr Park said. “We’re excited to serve the Broadmeadow community and bring something new to the area.”
