Two trophies in a row for Taylors

Taylors Wines has won the Best of Show Australian White Wine with one of its Chardonnays for the second year in a row at the Mundus Vini competition in Neustadt, Germany.

Announced on Tuesday in Germany, Taylors’ 2014 Jaraman Chardonnay was awarded the trophy, following the same award in 2015 for Taylors’ 2014 St Andrews Chardonnay.

Taylors Wines has an excellent track record at the Mundus Vini since it began competing at major awards show, and this year’s medal haul sees the winery achieve a total of 21 gold medals since 2008.

Taylors Wines Managing Director Mitchell Taylor says it is an exciting time for Australian chardonnay in the northern hemisphere.

“Of the 12 white wine gold medals awarded to Australia, all were chardonnays except two,” he said. “Australian chardonnay has always maintained consumer loyalty in the UK, which is a positive sign for the industry as we continue to produce the more refined expression of this variety.

“We’re extremely proud of our chardonnays and there’s no doubt that 2014 has delivered some excellent wines. Competing in Europe allows us to benchmark our wines against some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world, and the winemaking team is extremely proud to know the wines they produce can compete with some of the best.”
