Woolworths completes upgrade of Corio store

The $2 million, two-month refurbishment of a Woolworths supermarket in Geelong has concluded with the revamped store reopening on August 12.

The upgrades to the store, at Corio, include an improved delicatessen, new painting, and internal signage throughout. The layout for the check-out area and additional self‐service check-outs has also been improved to ensure customers can pay for their items quickly.

The new supermarket design also includes the relocation of the liquor retailer BWS next door.

Woolworths Corio Store Manager Matt Pickering says customers can expect to see further improvements in coming months with a new fit-out of the produce and bakery departments.

He said the store upgrade had created “one of Australia’s most modern supermarkets”.

“The investment will deliver a supermarket local residents can continue to be proud of and support,” he said. “These improvements will enhance our customers’ shopping experience as they pick up fresh Australian produce and meat, inspiring meal ideas, a wide choice of healthy options and a huge range of grocery items at great prices.”

The investment is part of Woolworths’ wider refurbishment program across Victoria, with around 10 supermarkets undergoing significant upgrades or extensions for the remainder of 2015.
