NEWS SHOP ONLINE WITH IGA SHOP SERVICE IGA has launched its new national grocery delivery service, IGA Shop. The online store supplements the existing online offer of many independent family owned IGA stores across the country, giving even more customers the opportunity to shop from home and have products from their local IGA delivered to their front door. The launch follows IGA’s Priority Shop offering, a service introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide local grocery deliveries to those in need. While IGA Priority Shop was available only to the elderly, vulnerable or isolated, IGA Shop is open to all in hundreds of areas across Australia. “While we prefer to serve our customers face to face, we’ve developed this online solution because we know some of our local shoppers aren’t able to get out to the shops right now or would prefer to stay away,” Metcash Food EGM Retail Channels Danielle Jenkinson said. “We aren’t yet experts at home delivery, so please bear with us as we iron out any kinks and improve the online shopping experience. It’s definitely not perfect, but we’ve built this solution quickly to ensure that IGA retailers are able to continue to support their local communities as only they know how.” Via igashop.com.au, shoppers can choose from a selection of more than 1,800 essential and popular items commonly stocked at most stores. More products, features and delivery areas are being added weekly. MORRISONS PLEASES VEGANS WITH LATEST FOOD BOX Morrisons has launched a ‘Vegan Essentials’ food box to help its vegan customers during the COVID-19 lockdown. The UK retailer says the food boxes are particularly helpful for those who are vulnerable or self-isolating and cannot leave the house. Created in response to requests from customers following the launch of other Morrisons food boxes, the Vegan Essentials box is available for £35 ($63.64), including next-day delivery to the doorstep, and will feed two people for a week. The box contains 23 different items, including lentils, jackfruit, couscous, meat-free sausages, meat-free mince, dairy-free cheese, and almond milk, along with a mix of fresh fruit and vegetables. “Many of our vegan customers have got in touch to ask whether we could create a food box for them,” Morrisons Head of Food Boxes Tessa Callaghan said. “We’ve sourced some of the best vegan food for this food box as we continue to play our full part in feeding the nation during these unprecedented times.” Morrisons also offers ‘Gluten Free’ and ‘British Farmers’ food boxes. 14 RETAIL WORLD MAY, 2020
