WHAT’S NEW NITROGENISED TEA AS ALCOHOL ALTERNATIVE Combining premium loose-leaf tea with an injection of nitrogen bubbles, East Forged is described as a “cold tea-based drink with a crisp, dry flavour and a beer- like appearance and texture – minus the alcohol or bloating”. The product’s beer-like look and texture and “complexity of subtle flavours” are promoted as having led to it being compared to, and sitting comfortably alongside, any alcoholic beverage, in a variety of social occasions and settings. According to the brand, not only does the nitrogen-infused cold-brew tea range look and taste great, it’s healthy and low in calories too, with no added sugar, artificial flavours or artificial colours. East Forged is available in the flavour variants of Black Tea, Green Tea and White Tea. BREAKING OUT THE CHUNKY GOLD KRISP The new KitKat Chunky Gold Krisp is described as “three layers of crisp wafer topped with delicious golden white choc waffle pieces, all on a gold choc base”. The bar is promoted as offering “a delicious way to make any break exciting”. KitKat Chunky Gold Krisp retails for $1.99 and is available nationwide in Coles, Woolworths, Big W, independents and convenience stores. TEETH TEST FOR BRUSHING UP KIDS’ CARE CareDent is encouraging children to take the “two-minute teeth test” twice a day by brushing their upper teeth for one minute and their lower teeth for the same time – to improve dental health maintenance. The brand’s new Cosmic toothbrush comes with a two-minute LED flashing light timer, easy-grip handle, soft compact head, and suction cup for hygiene. On a similar note, CareDent’s new Starlite brush comes with a one-minute light-up timer. Children are encouraged to press the button and brush their top teeth, then press the button once more to clean their bottom teeth, learning to take the time to care for teeth effectively. Both the Cosmic and Starlite toothbrushes were created to recognise CareDent’s long-term partnership with the Starlight Foundation. HAZY DAYS WITH COOPERS’ LATEST IPA Coopers Brewery is launching Hazy IPA, a limited- edition seasonal release available in kegs and 375ml cans across Australia from mid-August. According to the Australian owned brewer, hazy beers are characterised by their “intense juicy, fruit-forward aroma, soft carbonation, creamy mouthfeel and hazy, opaque appearance that take cloudy beers to a whole new level”. Coopers Managing Director and Chief Brewer Dr Tim Cooper says Coopers Hazy IPA is a “hoppy, sessionable, easy-to-drink beer” providing tangerine, orange, citrus and exotic fruit flavours and aromas through the liberal use of Ahtanum and Strata hops. Its alcohol by volume level is said to be 6.2 per cent and its bitterness level 27 IBU (International Bitterness Units). Hazy IPA has a roundel label that Coopers says is easily identified in the marketplace with matching tap tops for the on-premise market. AUG, 2020 RETAIL WORLD 41
