WOOLWORTHS ESTABLISHES ‘NEXT GEN’ SUPPLY CHAIN Woolworths announced the launch of its Primary Connect supply chain platform last month. According to the business, this will see Woolworths’ internal supply chain function rebrand to Primary Connect as it begins to evolve into an end-to-end service provider not just for Woolworths Group retail businesses, but an increasing number of partners. A key catalyst for the move is the proposed separation of Endeavour Group from Woolworths Group. This has seen Primary Connect become the full-service supply chain service provider to BWS and Dan Murphy’s. Primary Connect Managing Director Paul Graham says establishing the platform is a key step in building Australia’s “next generation” supply chain. “We run the largest and most distributed retail supply chain network in Australia,” he said. “This size and scale provides us with a unique opportunity to deliver a lot of value to business partners both within our group and beyond. “But it’s not enough to have a best-in-class network. To be successful in growing the platform, we need to deliver world- class customer service and build on our digital offering to deliver safer and smarter supply chain solutions for partners. We’ve never been better placed to do so.” Working with more than 70 “trusted” carrier partners to optimise freight movements and improve utilisation across its end-to-end network, Woolworths’ existing Primary Connect transport business currently services more than 1000 external customers, including Ingham’s, Kimberly-Clark, Marley Spoon and Diageo. All team members within Woolworths Group Supply Chain will now form part of the expanded Primary Connect team. NEWS WOOLIES LAUNCHES COLLECTIBLE GLASS CONTAINERS Woolworths is helping customers keep their food fresher and reduce food waste at home this Christmas with a new line of collectible glass containers. Available from 11 November, Woolworths customers will receive a container credit by scanning their Everyday Rewards card for every $20 spent in store or online. Customers can then redeem the glass containers for free with sufficient container credits. The premium seven-piece stackable set comes in various shapes and sizes and is made from tempered borosilicate glass that is claimed to make it safe in the oven and broiler (without the lid), microwave, refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher. The plastic lid includes a four-hinge locking mechanism and silicone seal, that is said to help to keep food fresh, and a steam vent to cook or reheat food in the microwave. “Between Christmas, New Year, and back to school, customers have a busy few months ahead of them and will be looking for ways to get the most value from their shop,” Woolworths Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Hicks said. “That’s why we’re committed to supporting those who are looking to make every meal count with storage solutions that will mean less food waste, but also help customers’ shops go further. “Our new line of glass containers are a great solution to store, cook, and share fresh food while making meals last longer. They’re a practical kitchen staple that customers can enjoy long after the Christmas season ends. “We know how much Woolworths customers enjoy our collectible programs and these new glass containers are one of the many ways we’re helping Aussies get the most value from their shop this Christmas season.” Customers need to be an Everyday Rewards member to get container credits and collect glass containers and can sign up at everydayrewards.com.au. Alternatively, customers can purchase the glass containers outright without taking part in the promotion. The earn and collect campaign runs from 11 November 2020 to 2 February 2021, and a redeem only period will run from 3 February 2021 to 16 February 2021 or while stocks last.
