BREAD & BAKERY EXPAND A mission to reduce salt Mission Foods has launched Mission Salt Reduced Wraps in response to more customers looking for less salt in their favourite bakery items. According to the brand, Mission Salt Reduced Wraps contain 55 per cent less sodium than Mission Original Wraps. They are also said to have no artificial colours and flavours and provide a source of protein. “They have the same great taste and super soft texture \\\[that\\\] the customers love,” Mission Foods said. High-protein bun a ‘game-changer’ Herman Brot’s HermanBurger Protein Bun is created using “pure plant protein”, making it vegan and vegetarian friendly. With a Health Star Rating of five, the bun has been tested by SUGiRS (Sydney University GI Research Service) and deemed suitable for people living with type 2 diabetes. According to the brand, the HermanBurger Protein Bun has an “incredible” 19.3g of protein per serve (one bun), “only” 7.7g of carbohydrates and is low GI (31)”. Herman Brot owner Christian Coenen says the product is a “game changer” for the burger industry. “So many people are looking for a high-quality low-carb bun,” he said. “Couple this with high protein and Low GI and you’ve got the perfect bun.” Breadtop now on Coles shelves Products from Asian bakery Breadtop are now available at 100 Coles stores in NSW and Victoria. Coles is said to be the first supermarket and retailer to sell Breadtop products outside the national bakery chain. Announced in February, the Coles range includes 10 of Breadtop’s most popular soft buns, cakes and cinnamon scrolls, including the pork floss bun, BBQ pork bun and twin coconut buns. Breadtop founder and owner Simon Ip says the partnership with Coles has enabled the business to expand its operations and reach new customers in growing Asian communities. “We’re very excited to see our products on Coles shelves,” he said. “Through our partnership with Coles, we’ll have access to a bigger, diverse market by expanding into new locations, and it means our existing customers will have greater access to our products on the east coast.” 46 RETAIL WORLD APR, 2021 your range
