Richmond Marketplace turns 20

The ISPT-owned Richmond Marketplace shopping centre in Sydney’s north-west is celebrating 20 years of operation, claiming to have recorded 74 million visits, generated $2 billion in sales and created thousands of local jobs since opening.

“Our 20th birthday is a huge milestone for everyone involved with Richmond Marketplace, and the perfect opportunity to reflect on our heritage and history, as well as its importance to the local community,” the centre’s Senior Marketing Manager, Tracey Thomas, said.

“We’re looking forward to toasting its continued success for many years to come, and celebrating with our 1,000 staff, 60-plus retailers and local customers over the coming weeks.”

The main birthday celebrations will kick off on May 5 with an official cake-cutting ceremony. Fans of the Trolls computer-animated movie will also have the opportunity to meet the film’s ‘Poppy’ and ‘Branch’ characters between 10am and 2pm in the centre.

On May 6-7, free children’s entertainment at the centre, also from 10am to 2pm, will include face painting, cupcake decorating and encounters with farm animals provided by mobile petting attraction Kidz Zoo.

Also as part of the birthday celebrations, Richmond Marketplace is running a ‘20 Days to Win’ promotion for customers, which began on April 20, with a $400 shopping-spree prize presented every day until May 9. Customers buying from stores at the centre can enter a unique online code on the Richmond Marketplace website for the chance to win a share in prizes worth a total of $8,000.
