Finish and Rural Aid are delivering 1 million litres of water for 50 drought-stricken farmers across Australia.
The record-breaking initiative will stretch from Roma, QLD down to Carrieton, SA.
With the harsh impacts of drought still raging on for many rural farmers across Australia/Queensland, these much-needed deliveries will help to fill tanks and bolster farmer’s supplies ahead of Summer.
“Despite some rainfall this year, the impact of drought continues to drag on for rural farmers and communities across Australia,” says CEO of Rural Aid, John Warlters.
“There are still many producers who need our support to keep their farms going as they eagerly await much-needed and substantial rain.”
#FinishWaterWaste, first launched in 2019 and encourages Aussies to be smarter with their water use at home.
This includes promising to stop pre-rinsing their dishes; an unnecessary habit that can waste up to 40 litres of water per load.
For every social media post tagging #FinishWaterWaste during the initiative, Finish will donate 40 litres of water, which is delivered via Rural Aid, to drought-affected farmers.
“Delivering one million litres in just one week is no mean feat!” continues Mr Warlters.
“These deliveries will go a long way in helping farmers as they prepare for summer and the hottest months ahead.”
40 Litre challenge
Finish is also launching the #FinishWaterWaste 40 Litre Challenge.
Aussies are challenged to live on 40 litres of water for one day, and share their experiences on social media, tagging #FinishWaterWaste.
Comedian and Finish ambassador Tanya Hennessy says, “Taking on Finish’s 40 Litre Challenge and recently spending three days in the drought-impacted community of Orange in New South Wales, has been eye-opening.
“Participating in the #FinishWaterWaste initiative is a very easy way we can make a real difference.”
