ALDI Australia is committed to feeding those in difficult situations and is now encouraging the community to follow suit in time for Christmas.
In 2019, ALDI donated over 10 million meals and 34,000 kg of non-food items to their charity partners.
Through their partnerships (Oz Harvest and Foodbank) they have reduced impact on the environment, as well as providing meals and non-food essentials to Australians in need.
This Christmas, ALDI is asking their charities, food rescue organisations and farmers to collect unsold Christmas food.
It’s revealed that 28% of Australians now experience food insecurity and had not gone hungry before the Covid-19 pandemic.
“No one should ever have to go without food and Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for vulnerable Australians struggling to feed their families,” says General Manager-National Supply Chain of Foodbank, Michael Davidson.
“It should be a season for celebrating and connecting with our loved ones. ALDI’s Christmas food rescue drive will be indispensable in ensuring more Australians have access to food over the holidays.”

Donating to Camp Quality
ALDI additionally discusses a way in which their shoppers can give back.
From 30 November to 24 December, ALDI customers can add a $10 Camp Quality donation bauble, located in the gift card stand in store.
Proceeds from the Camp Quality bauble will allow kids facing cancer to attend Camps filled with happiness, laughter and fun.
ALDI will match customer donations up to the amount of $100,000.
