Coles offers discounted Mastercard gift cards

Coles is helping shoppers to save on “pretty much anything at all” with a 10% discount on selected Mastercard gift cards for one week only.

The limited-time offer is being promoted as the “easiest money-saving hack on record”, allowing customers to cut the price of anything that can be bought with a Mastercard.

From today (Wednesday 16 June) until Tuesday 22 June, Coles customers can pick up a $100 or $250 gift card and receive 10% off the total transaction, which includes an applicable purchase fee.

That means customers can pick up a $250 Coles Mastercard Gift Card, which carries a $7 purchase fee, for $231.30 – that’s an extra $18.70 in their pocket.

Customers can also buy a $100 Coles Mastercard gift card, which has a purchase fee of $5 per card. With the 10% discount, customers will pay $94.50 for a $100 card, which is a saving of $5.50.

There’s a limit of five gift cards per customer. This means customers can save up to $93.50 by purchasing five $250 gift cards.

Coles General Manager of Non-food Jonathan Torr says the limited-time offer is a way to provide extra value to customers.

“The beauty of this deal is that right now, there are many retailers having end of financial year sales, so customers can use a discounted Mastercard to get even bigger savings on already-reduced prices,” he says.

“It is the ultimate money-saving hack, and you can use it to purchase pretty much anything you need.

“It’s very simple to purchase a Coles Mastercard gift card and take advantage of this special. You just need to buy it in store. The cards are accepted anywhere that accepts Mastercard so the possibilities on what and where customers can save with this special are endless.

“Customers need to get in early because it’s only while stocks last and there are no rain checks.”
