Wonder’s recycling program returns

Wonder is kicking off the second year of its Recycling Rewards for Schools program.

According to the brand, the program is a “fun and easy” way to educate students about recycling and showcase first-hand how something so simple such as recycling bread bags, can help reduce landfill.

Last year, over 1000 schools across Australia registered with 400,000 kids participating and collecting, with many leading the campaign at their school,” says Wonder.

“Over 6000kg of soft plastics were collected, which is the equivalent to 1.7 million bread bags that might otherwise have ended up in landfill.”

The brand adds: “We know approximately 60% of soft plastics can be recycled in Australia, yet only 18% are, while a small 2% of those materials are then recycled into new plastics.”

To help encourage participation this year, Wonder is rewarding one school with Replas Exercise Equipment, said to be made from an average of 90% recycled plastic material. There’s also up to $100,000 of sports equipment to redeem.

“Wonder is on a mission to be a champion and facilitator of kids’ active play, and to create a better future for Aussie kids,” says Goodman Fielder Senior Marketing Manager Baking Cheree Andrews.

“Our leadership in sustainability, through Wonder Recycling Rewards, has won the hearts and minds of kids, parents and schools across the country, so we’re thrilled to welcome the program back for another year.”

Primary schools, early learning centres and day care centres can now register via wonder.com.au/wonder-recycling-rewards.
