Metcash Limited has entered into an agreement with Australian United Retailers Limited (AUR) to supply its national network of supermarkets and convenience stores, including its FoodWorks bannered supermarkets, for a further five-year period commencing 1 July, 2022, according to a statement released in early May.
The AUR network comprises more than 540 independently owned supermarkets and convenience stores situated in local communities across Australia, with over 370 operating under the FoodWorks banner.
“Under this agreement, Metcash will continue to be the sole preferred supplier to the AUR network,” the statement said. “This agreement replaces the current supply agreement which has operated on a rolling 12-month basis since the initial 10-year term of the agreement came to an end in September 2019. Sales to FoodWorks in FY21 accounted for ~$900 million of the total sales of ~$9.4 billion (includes charge-through sales) of Metcash’s Food pillar.”
