Farmers Union has launched a campaign to encourage consumers to re-invent leftovers with a dollop of Greek style yoghurt and reuse the tub for storage.
The majority of food waste in Australia comes from our homes, with every household spending between $2,000 and $2,500 on food that is wasted. Most of this is food that could have been eaten, or was intended to be eaten – such as leftovers.
“Farmers Union Greek Style Yogurt truly goes with anything and makes everything taste better,” said Nicole Alifragis, Brand Manager at Bega Group.
“A dollop of our delicious yogurt can breathe new life into last night’s dinner, saving those leftovers from ending up in the bin.”
The brand suggests adding yoghurt to a leftover beef stroganoff, incorporating the yoghurt into soup recipes for added richness, or using it as a topping for savory dishes liked baked potatoes or tacos.
This week, Farmers Union introduced a revamped and limited-edition design on its 1kg tub, encouraging consumers to be ‘tub-aware’ of food waste, inspiring them to repurpose the yoghurt ‘tub’ to store and reinvent their leftovers.
“When you’ve finished a delicious tub of Farmers Union Greek Style Yogurt, the empty tub is perfect for storing leftover food. And, when you’re ready to eat your leftovers, we’ve created delicious ways to reinvent them with simple recipes and of course, our yoghurt, which you’ll find through the QR code on our ‘tub-aware’ packs,” added Ms Alifragis.
The launch of Farmers Union’s ‘tub-aware’ pack follows its recent partnership with Saveful, an app that helps Aussies get the most out of their weekly shop by providing recipe inspiration with what’s on hand. This partnership has enabled Saveful to continue to have a positive environmental impact, while helping consumers save time and money.
Farmers Union’s 1kg Natural Greek Style Yogurt, with its ‘tub-aware’ design, is available now in Woolworths, Coles and independent supermarkets nationally.
