Perth Markets Group Limited (PMGL) has completed its latest multi-tenant cold chain warehouse. The new facility, known as S2, is strategically located at PMGL’s premier 51ha Canning Vale site and reflects PMGL’s ongoing commitment to developing facilities that support Western Australia’s fresh produce industry.
“As Western Australia’s only fresh food wholesale market, it is integral we continuously grow and deliver infrastructure that supports, strengthens, and meets the demands of the fresh produce supply chain,” says PMGL CEO Scott Gibson.
The S2 warehouse is a purpose-built standalone facility spanning over 3500sqm and featuring two-storey internal offices, 9.1m high cool rooms with motion sensor high-performance rapid doors, and recessed rear loading docks with dock levellers, restraints, and shelters. With full drive-around road circulation, the S2 warehouse fosters seamless logistics and efficient distribution into the retail and fresh produce supply chain.
PMGL Chief Property Officer, Shaun Atkins, who developed and leased the warehouse, says the facilities are incredibly important to the growth and success of its tenants.
“It gives them the opportunity to consolidate their site operations, deliver efficiencies and underpin continued expansion in the future,” he says.
The completion of S2 project is part of PMGL’s ongoing investment in infrastructure to support WA’s growers, wholesalers and fresh food retailers, with further opportunities becoming available following a strategic review of the precinct’s master plan.
PMGL is a horticultural industry-based facility owner, manager and developer, operating one of the largest industrial precincts in Perth. The purpose-built site is home to WA’s only wholesale fresh food central trading market, as well as the retail and commercial precinct, Market City, and the Canning Vale Weekend Markets.
With more than 250,000 tonnes of produce traded through Perth Markets in the 2024 financial year, the site contributes significantly to the horticultural industry and WA’s economy.
