Carine Primary School in Western Australia connected 7,210 Faber-Castell Connector Pens to stretch 65m across the school oval. The record took over two hours to complete – well ahead of the existing record of 1,520 continuous markers. The event raised funds for the school’s graduating class as students took part by making a gold coin donation, allowing them to add 10 Connector Pens each to the line.
Faber-Castell donated 6,000 Connector Pens to the school’s world record attempt as part of celebrations for Connector Pens’ 21st birthday.
Following the event, the Connector Pens were donated to Bikabele Cares for Kids, a Balinese charity for disadvantaged, underprivileged and orphaned children, providing an outlet for their creativity and help with their education needs.
Countess Natalie Faber-Castell, Australian Marketing and Communications Manager for Faber-Castell and ninth generation family member, said the world record attempt was the perfect way to top off 21 years of Connector Pens in Australia.
“We spent all of October celebrating our Connector Pens’ 21st birthday, so it was very exciting for us to be able to round out the month with such an exciting event that benefits not only Carine Primary School, but those less fortunate overseas,” she said.
The school is awaiting Guinness World Records’ verification of its success.
