ALDI Australia, in partnership with The ALDI South Group, has signed the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles. The Women’s Empowerment Principles are a joint initiative between UN Women and UN Global Compact, with the aim of empowering women and promoting gender equality. “By signing onto the principles, we are joining a network of 442 global companies, including twelve organisations in Australia, to reinforce our commitment as a fair and equal opportunity employer,” says ALDI Australia.
ALDI Australia Managing Director Rebecca Eichfeld says, “We believe that understanding, respecting, and valuing the uniqueness of our people and customers makes us stronger. That’s why we’re committed to building an inclusive culture that values diversity in all its forms. As a company, we are focused on creating a holistic strategy and have set ourselves ambitious goals to create a culture of equality for all.”
“Signing the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles is part of ALDI’s continuous drive to improve the workplace for all employees as reflected in our International Policy on Gender Equality in ALDI’s Supply Chains and our global Diversity & Inclusion Policy. By engaging internal and external stakeholders and building on industry practices, ALDI Australia, part of the ALDI SOUTH Group, is taking a step further in working to close the gender gap in the private sector.”
ALDI SOUTH Group is a member of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Activator programme. The program’s aim is to secure business leadership support for gender equality as a foundation principle across global supply chains.
