ALDI Australia’s coffee recognised at global awards

ALDI Australia’s Lazzio coffee has been awarded overall Large Chain Champion at the 2024 World Series Golden Bean Awards.

Promoted as the world’s largest coffee roasting competition, the Golden Bean brings together the “best of the best” in the coffee roasting industry, with the World Series being the grand final between the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere. This year there were over 2,500 submissions.

Having been crowned Australia’s best at the Australian Golden Bean Awards in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, this is the first World Series win for ALDI Australia’s Lazzio coffee, roasted by Melbourne’s Black Bag Roasters.

The multi award-winning Lazzio range, available exclusively at ALDI, includes Lazzio Medium and Dark Coffee Beans, Lazzio Medium and Dark Ground Coffee, Lazzio Organic Ground Coffee, Lazzio Single Origin Brazil and Colombia Beans, as well as the newest and “most premium coffee blend developed to date”, Lazzio Luxe Blend Beans.

ALDI Australia Coffee Buying Director Daniel Quinlan says the retailer is proud to partner with Black Bag Roasters to bring locally roasted, award-winning, world-class coffee to its customers.

“Adding to our golden trophies with this World Series is another nod to the quality we work hard to deliver to our customers by working closely with the best supplier partners,” he says. “With prices starting at just 10¢ a cup, Lazzio is a luxury everyone can afford.”

Black Bag Roasters Director Lance Brown says the roaster is always excited to be recognised for its range of coffee beans, but it’s especially humbling to receive such high praise at the World Series of the Golden Bean Awards.

“Our nine-year partnership with ALDI continues to take us to new heights, and we couldn’t be more pleased with this result,” he says.
