ALDI will be bringing its unique shopping experience to Smithfield, South Australia following approval of its development application for a freestanding store on the corner of Warooka Drive and George McCullum Road.

State planning reforms bring ALDI to Mentone
The Victorian Government’s 2013 planning reforms enabled rezoning of industrial areas for commercial development, opening up new opportunities for smaller retailers such as ALDI to provide an alternative grocery option for shoppers.
Opened Wednesday, October 28, ALDI Mentone provides the south-east Melbourne community with award-winning grocery products and popular ‘special buys’, together with fresh fruit, vegetables and bread delivered daily.
“ALDI is delighted to be bringing our unique offering to Mentone,” an ALDI Australia spokesperson said. “By encouraging development in new areas, the reforms have helped increase competition, which ultimately means better value for shoppers.”
The store, at The Mentone Centre, joins a growing list of stores to open in Victoria as a result of the reforms, which began with the opening of ALDI Cheltenham in October 2014. ALDI has also opened in Altona North and will be establishing new stores in Dromana, Springvale, Traralgon, Epsom Village and Wendouree.
ALDI Mentone is approximately 1,000sqm in retail size and supported by 15-20 employees.
