ALDI named Australia’s best supermarket for the seventh year

ALDI is Australia’s best-rated supermarket for overall satisfaction for the seventh consecutive year, according to Canstar Blue.

Within the annual Canstar Blue Supermarket Satisfaction Ratings, Australian consumers have consistently ranked ALDI as the only supermarket to earn five-stars in overall customer satisfaction for the past seven years (2018-2024).

ALDI Australia Group Director Simon Padovani-Ginies says the retailer is proud to have maintained its leadership and satisfaction for customers at a time when they need it the most.

“Being credited as the only five-star rated supermarket for overall satisfaction shows our day-in-day-out commitment to delivering market-leading prices on high quality goods is resonating with our shoppers,” he says.

“Customers deserve great value for money and quality products when shopping for groceries, so this is a proud win for ALDI and our many Australian business partners who always aim to exceed the expectations of our shoppers with the excellent products on our shelves.

“This award win would not have been possible without the support of our loyal customers. We want to assure them that our price promise remains as firm today as it always has – we won’t be beaten on the cost of the weekly shop. ‘Unusually strong’ performance

Commenting on the win, Canstar Blue Editor-in-Chief Christine Seib says ALDI should be proud of holding steady with customer satisfaction over the past seven years.

“Canstar Blue surveys consumers to rate brands in more than 300 product and service categories on their own customer satisfaction levels, and brands that top those ratings for more than a year or two are rare,” she says.

“That makes ALDI’s domination of the Most Satisfied Customers – Supermarkets award for seven consecutive years not only an unusually strong performance from any brand but also a testament to its consistent delivery of what Australian customers want from a supermarket.

“In 2024 ALDI maintained its five-star satisfaction scores for value for money, the freshness of its produce, the quality of its deals and specials and its own-branded products, its store layout and presentation and its customers’ overall satisfaction with their shopping experience.

“ALDI managed to do this at a time when customers’ budgets are strained by rising costs of living and competition between supermarket brands to attract and retain those increasingly cautious shoppers is particularly high.

“Value for money remains the biggest driver of customer satisfaction but freshness of product was slightly more important to shoppers in 2024 than it was in 2023, so delivering strongly on both of those key satisfaction factors helped ALDI’s performance in this year’s ratings. In fact, Canstar Blue’s survey found that ALDI’s customers reported a lower weekly grocery bill than the customers of all other major supermarket chains.”
