Aussies show their romantic side this year

Same day delivery company, Sherpa says that Australians have proven to be a romantic bunch.

More than 10,000 Valentine’s Day deliveries were made in the lead up to the sweetest day, with 50% of those deliveries being made on the actual day.

Sherpa says that they were delivering seven Valentine’s Day gifts per minute across Australia.

While roses were the most popular gift, with Roses Only and other florists around Australia relying on Sherpa to make their deliveries, there was a huge increase in edible flowers, cupcakes and champagne gifting.

“The demand for Sherpa’s Same Day delivery model has increased four-fold since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, as Aussie consumers go online for depth of variety and convenience of delivery,” says CEO of Sherpa, Duncan Brett.

Newcastle proved to be the most romantic city with 300 customers sending a record number of roses last week.

Other areas with big volumes in flower deliveries were Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, Gosford on the NSW Central Coast and Burnley just east of Melbourne CBD.

Sherpas are considered as Essential Service workers and were able to deliver in locked-down Melbourne, with 40% of all deliveries made across suburbs on the same day.
