South Australian development company Lanser has officially opened its new Aston Hills Shopping Centre this week on 15 March.
The new retail precinct is set to service South Australia’s fastest growing region, with shoppers expected to flock from all over the Adelaide Hills region to the new centre.
The Aston Hills Shopping Centre opened with anchor tenant Drakes Supermarkets trading alongside a range of specialty tenants including Homestead Meats, Schnithouse Australia, Rachael’s Hair Creations, Snap Fitness and REVL Training with more specialty shops to follow soon.
“This centre has been a labour of love for Lanser – we’re proud to be a part of the Mount Barker community and we hope that people will see the extra mile our team has gone to deliver a beautiful new retail experience for everyone. We are thrilled to be working together with Drakes who is another passionate South Australian business, and we share the same values about delivering quality and convenience to our community,” says Lanser Managing Director Jason Green.
Drakes will occupy 2996sqm of the 6600sqm centre which was designed by award-winning architectural firm Brown Falconer, with Aston Hills Drakes’ first store in the growing Adelaide Hills region.
“Our customers have been begging for a Drakes store in the Hills and we had been looking for quite some time for the right location. At Drakes, we don’t want to just sell groceries; we want to be part of the local community – and the village lifestyle that the Aston Hills precinct offers matches our core values to a tee,” says Drakes Supermarkets Director John-Paul Drake.
With direct access from the Bald Hills Road freeway interchange via a new section of Heysen Boulevard connecting Springs Road and Paech Road, the Aston Hills Shopping Centre is easily accessible for shoppers from Strathalbyn to Stirling and beyond. With its proximity to the Summit Sport and Recreation Park, Mount Barker’s future Aquatic Centre, the future Hills Integrated Lutheran Schools (HILS) campus and a future medical centre, the Aston Hills Shopping Centre is located along Heysen Boulevard – the ring road set to service Mount Barker’s growing population.
“This is one of the most carefully-planned centres we’ve had the fortune to be a part of – from plenty of extra-wide car parking to easy access from the freeway, it’s all been designed to make shopping a stress-free experience,” Mr Drake said.
Unique features of the centre include new EV charging stations, a rooftop solar system in partnership with Savant Energy, and 271 car parks.
The public are invited to a Family Fun Day event at the Aston Hills Shopping Centre on 22 April from 11am to 2pm to celebrate the official launch of new retail precinct. On the day there will be music, entertainment, games and prizes and plenty of activities for all the family.
Aston Hills launched in 2014 and is home to 1470 people, and on completion will be home to 2200 new homes in what is fast becoming known as South Australia’s fastest growing region. The population of Mount Barker is expected to increase from 33,000 to 55,000 by 2036.
“Drakes and Lanser hold similar values – both very proud South Australian companies who want to enhance the communities we join. We’re also both very keen to show the world how brilliant it is to live in this great state of ours. I have no doubt we’ll be working with Lanser again in the future,” Mr Drake said.
