Foodbank Australia has announced that its board of directors has appointed Brianna Casey as its new CEO, effective July 18.
Foodbank is the largest food relief organisation in the country. Ms Casey joins Foodbank from the Australian Childcare Alliance NSW where she was CEO, having previously been at the NSW Farmers Association and the Queensland Farmers Federation.
“We are thrilled to have Brianna join us at this critical time in Foodbank’s evolution,” Foodbank Australia Chair Tony Froggatt said.
The ‘Foodbank Hunger Report’ was released earlier this month and revealed that hunger is reaching crisis level in Australia. Despite Foodbank providing 644,000 meals a month, charities are still being forced to turn people away due to lack of food.
“Foodbank is making a real difference in the lives of millions of disadvantaged Australians, but there is still much more to be done,” Ms Casey said. “I’m excited to be given the opportunity to work with the passionate team at Foodbank to help take it into a new phase of growth and impact.”
