The Franchise Council of Australia has appointed a new CEO, helping ensure that the franchising community retains a strong voice on the national stage.

The Franchise Council of Australia CEO Matthew Monaghan.

Matthew Monaghan joins the FCA today. Mr Monoghan brings 20 years of experience working in and leading peak membership bodies across a number of diverse sectors. He has previously served as CEO of the Australian Childcare Alliance Victoria, and CEO of Chiropractic Australia. The FCA welcomes Mr Monaghan as it prepares to constructively engage with the Federal Government on the upcoming review of the Franchising Code of Conduct. As part of this process, the FCA will highlight the numerous challenges faced by the nearly 100,000 franchised businesses across Australia and outline how policy reform can help drive job creation and business growth.

FCA Board Chair Brendan Green welcomed Mr Monaghan’s appointment, saying, “Matthew’s wealth of experience and expertise will aid the FCA’s efforts to advocate for responsible economic leadership, in order to support the ongoing success of our members, franchising, and businesses across Australia.”

“Our Board is very much looking forward to working with Matthew and members will have an opportunity to meet him at the National Franchise Convention at the Gold Coast on May 15-16,” Mr Green said.

“The FCA Board would like to acknowledge the work of our staff during the transition period, in particular Peter White who undertook the duties of acting CEO and ensured organisational continuity. Peter will now move into the role of Chief Operations Officer.”

On the appointment, Mr Monaghan said, “I look forward to working to progress the advocacy efforts of the FCA as we strive to drive the advancement of franchising through the delivery of relevant, purposeful and influential member services.”

Mr Monaghan commences in his new role today.
