GS1 Australia pledges support for medical research

GS1 Australia announced its commitment to support St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research (SVI) as a charity of choice.

GS1 Australia chose SVI because it conducts research into common ailments that affect many people, including cancer, type 1 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.

“GS1 Australia shares this vision and is proud to be associated with SVI to assist in the research of common diseases that will improve the health of the community and better the lives of so many Australians who are affected by these debilitating diseases,” GS1 Australia CEO Maria Palazzolo said.

By conducting research into some of Australia’s most common and damaging diseases, SVI aims to help alleviate the enormous financial, emotional and physical impacts of these diseases on individuals, their families and the community.

“We are grateful to GS1 Australia for making us their charity of choice,” SVI Director Professor Tom Kay said. “Their support will have a significant impact on our research Thanks to GS1 Australia, more people will learn about and benefit from SVI discoveries.”

The partnership with SVI has also seen the establishment of the Working Place Giving Committee at GS1 Australia to identify fundraising opportunities in support of the charity.
