Heinz campaign puts controversial flavours on trial

Heinz [Seriously] Good Mayonnaise is inviting Aussies to cast their verdict on scandalous flavours vs guilty pleasures. Five creative and controversial mayonnaise flavours will be put on trial, with voters determining which should hit our shelves immediately, or be deserving of condiment confinement.

The flavours pleading their innocence in front of the national jury are Sweet Chocolate Mayonnaise, Cheesy Garlic Bread Aioli, Tangy Coriander Mayonnaise, Smokey Bacon Mayonnaise, and Margherita Pizza Mayonnaise.

Heinz [Seriously] Good Mayonnaise has enlisted multi-hyphenate creative, Flex Mami, to host the (mock) trial of the year to make the case for which flavours should be set free on the shelf.

“The line between yuck and yum has never been so blurred, so there was simply no other thing to do, but start the trial and put it to the nation,” said Flex Mami.

“It’s going to be a tough verdict, but I’m ready to open it up to the jury. Are these fresh combinations too bold to be legal or to become truly inspired icons of mayonnaise?”

New research from the brand reveals that 76% of Australians admit to being incredibly passionate about food and 78% would rate themselves as being adventurous when it comes to trying new flavours.

However, being so adventurous often means that the foods and flavours we’re indulging in aren’t always guaranteed to be delicious. Some might even say they’re a food crime; which Aussies describe as being a weird flavour combination (53%), an unappetising meal (59%), or a poorly plated cuisine (21%).

Speaking to what response we can expect from such an adventurous nation, Head of Taste Elevation at Kraft Heinz, Andrea Payne said, “Almost a third of the nation1 say they’ve managed to convince others that a certain food or flavour is either a food crime or criminally tasty, so we’re excited to see which of our new flavours are satisfying, scandalous, or spark even more table talk.”

Voters can have their on which Heinz [Seriously] Good Mayonnaise flavours should be locked up or released onto shelves via criminallytasty.heinz.com.au.
