Karma Bites’ lotus seed snack hits Woolies

Karma Bites is launching its healthy snack made from popped lotus seeds into Woolworths stores this week.

Promoted as a “much-loved” food eaten by generations of families in Eastern cultures, Karma Bites have “harnessed” the “nutritional power” of lotus seeds.

Said to be known for its high protein, low fat and rich mineral content, and at “only” 100 calories per 25g bag, Karma Bites are described as being “delicious” and “nutritious”, and as the “perfect snack you can feel good about”. Karma Bites are gluten free, vegan, refined sugar free and free from artificial ingredients.

Having always enjoyed an active and healthy lifestyle, the founder of Karma Bites, Ashwin Ahuja struggled to find snacks that were nutritious and tasty.

Taking inspiration from his own family, Mr Ahuja realised that the healthy snack he was looking for was right in front of him in the form of the lotus seed – something his family had been snacking on for years.

Launching into the UK, then 20 other countries around the world, Mr Ahuja and his business partner David Burns, founder and Managing Director of the DJB Food Group brought Karma Bites to Australia 12 months ago.

“After stumbling across Karma Bites at the Anuga Food Show in Germany in October 2019, I noticed a gap in the Australian market for a unique, funky snack brand and knew it would pop off shelves,” says Mr Burns.

“We’re thrilled to have Woolworths on board as a stockist of Karma Bites, sharing the good karma to their customers and celebrating a new healthy way to snack.”

Karma Bites are available in the variants of Himalayan Salt, Peri Peri and Caramel at Woolworths for $2.95.
