Lee Kum Kee has introduced Mimi Wong, a contestant of MasterChef Australia 2024, as its newest ambassador in Australia.
Ms Wong joins the brand’s growing family of ambassadors in Australia, including fellow MasterChef Australia alumnus and 2023 finalist Declan Cleary, to make authentic Asian flavours more accessible in Australian homes.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, China, the headquarters of Lee Kum Kee, Ms Wong’s love of cooking blossomed under the guidance of her grandmother, who taught her the fundamentals of Asian cooking, especially working with flavours like ginger, garlic and spices.
After moving to Australia for university, Ms Wong embarked on a career as an English teacher before applying for MasterChef. Her personal journey is said to align with the essence of the Lee Kum Kee brand, symbolising its rich heritage and “essential” place in Australian pantries, where eastern and western culinary cultures converge.
Lee Kum Kee Business Development Director – Oceania, APAC Gary Hui says Ms Wong’s vibrant personality, culinary expertise, and passion for Asian food culture align perfectly with the brand’s values.
“We look forward to seeing how her creativity will inspire Australians to explore our products in new, yet heritage-inspired and exciting ways,” he says.
Ms Wong says she’s thrilled to share how Lee Kum Kee’s flavours can transform everyday meals into something extraordinary
“Hong Kong holds a special place in my heart, as it’s where I first discovered my passion for cooking,” she says.
“Chinese cuisine is a unique combination of sweetness, spice and heat, and I am passionate about sharing this with Australians. I love showing people how to unlock these flavours and Lee Kum Kee is the perfect brand for those wanting to experiment or hone their Asian culinary skills.”
Ms Wong will support the brand’s growth in Australia by developing a collection of unique recipes featuring Lee Kum Kee’s sauces, including Panda Brand Oyster Sauce, Premium Soy Sauce, Chiu Chow Style Chilli Oil, and more which will be shared across her social media platforms.
